The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. July 19 Billy James Thomas, 41, 100 block of North Mallet Street, Eunice. Attempted second-degree murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, domestic abuse battery, home invasion. Arrested by Eunice Police.

Jessy “JC” Manuel

Jessy “JC” Manuel passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at the age of 83. A funeral service was held on at noon Friday, July 19, 2019, at Quirk and Son Funeral Home in Eunice with Deacon Jim Cormier officiating. Burial followed at Mt Calvary Cemetery in Eunice.

Plans for new hospital in Church Point announced

\Plans for a new Acadia St. Landry Hospital were announced at Church Point Community Development Corporations’ mid-year open meeting on June 10. Cindy Walters, CEO of Acadia-St. Landry Hospital, said, “We are transforming health care for our community by building a new hospital.

School prep
