Senate budget includes teacher pay raises

The Louisiana Senate passed on Thursday in a 35-2 vote a $30 billion state operating budget for next year that includes pay raises for school teachers, across-the-board increases for school districts and a boost for early childhood education.

LSUE chancellor’s pay set

Nancee Sorenson, who has been selected as the next chancellor of LSU Eunice, will be paid $225,000 annually, according to personnel actions on Friday’s LSU Board of Supervisors meeting. Sorenson is also to be paid a $12,000 a year temporary car allowance.
