Angry Eunice teen set fire to mattress

A 15-year-old boy was arrested by the State Fire Marshal for setting a fire in the home his family was renting. The teen was arrested on one count of simple arson on May 24 and released into the custody of his parents, the news release from the State Fire Marshal stated.

Basile police not paid

The payroll for the Basile Police Department was unable to be paid on May 24 due to the lack of funds in the budget, according to Basile Mayor Mark Denette. Only Police Chief Ivory was compensated for the past two weeks period.
