Church Point Police seek information to find suspect

Church Point Police are seeking the public’s assistance regarding a Dec. 21, 2018, shooting which occurred at the Martin Luther King Park at 5:25 p.m.  Officers discovered that two people were shot during a robbery. Both victims received non-life threatening injuries.

Police make arrest in Monday shooting

Eunice Police said 19-year-old Daricko Stevens walked into the police department shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday to inquire if there were any warrants against him. Police then arrested Stevens in the shooting death of Oshae Doffney, 23, of Elton, that occurred about 1:30 a.m.

Police plan bicycle registration program

A city ordinance requiring registration of bicycles has been on the books since July 1978, but in recent years not active. By next week, Eunice Police may be back in the business of registering bicycles, according to Police Chief Randy Fontenot.

COA annual Mardi Gras dance set The St. Landry Council on Aging, Inc. will have its annual Mardi Gras dance from 1 to 3:30 p.m. March 4 at the Northwest Center in Eunice. Music will be provided by Big J & the Zydeco Dog Pound, Admission is $2 for age 60 and over. Anyone under 60 admission is $5.
