The following are arrests by Eunice Police. Oct. 24 Wilkema Qunae Fontenot, 17, 100 block of Goose Street, Eunice. Bench warrant. Dovontay Jaylin Helaire, 22, 300 block of Jackson, Lafayette. Warrant for 15th Judicial District Court, attempted first-degree murder. U.S. Marshal arrest.

4 arrested in Lawtell shooting

Four people have been arrested in connection with a shooting in Lawtell, according to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz in a news release. On Oct. 18, deputies were called to 599 Durosseau Road where two victims had sustained gunshot wounds.

Tips sought for Iota burglary

Crime Stoppers of Acadia Parish needs the public’s help to solve a cold case. Iota Police are investigating a residential burglary which occurred sometime from Dec. 2 to 9 in the 600 block of South 5th Street in Iota.

Scalise becoming GOP’s official rainmaker

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise has been breaking Capitol Hill fundraising records this election cycle and filling his war chest at a rate that most candidates can only dream of. According to the whip’s re-election campaign, Scalise has raised more than $15 million this cycle, bringing in $4.
