Diseases, insects, weeds are rice season concerns

Police: He shot in the air and landed in jail

There was a report of shots, fired, an investigation and then an arrest on Saturday. At about 10 a.m., Eunice Police received a call about gun shots being heard on East Ash Avenue. When police arrived at the scene in the 200 block of East Ash they were given a description of the shooter.

Road work bid selected

The city will pave sections of 23 streets beginning in late July in an overlay program that occurs every other year. Aldermen approved Coastal Bridge Co., of Baton Rouge, as the low bidder at $789,265. The road work totals about 3.7 miles. The city has from 50 to 60 miles of roads.
