Tires, rims stolen off pickup

Crowley Police detectives are investigating the felony theft of six tires and rims that occurred during the early morning hours of Dec. 19, 2017, in the 19400 block of Crowley Eunice Highway. All six tires and rims were removed from a white 2014 Dodge Ram Dually and placed the vehicle on blocks.

Henderson’s Pat Huval dead at 88

Pat Huval, Henderson’s first mayor whose famed Pat’s Fisherman’s Wharf Restaurant has been drawing customers for more than 60 years, died Saturday, January 6 at St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge. He was 88 and had been in poor health for some time. Funeral services are set for 11 a.m.

City races draw 15 candidates

Fifteen people have qualified for offices to be filled in the March 24 municipal election here in St. Martinville. The only uncontested race is for the District 5 council seat held by Edmond Joseph, who was elected just last year to serve the unexpired term of the late Romanus “Ike” Robertson.

Sheriff: Man caught with drugs in home search

A 27-year-old Morgan City man was jailed on drug charges after St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s deputies searched his home and found him inside smoking a synthetic cannabinoid cigar, Sheriff Scott Anslum said in a news release.

Police called to disturbance and discover it is something more

Eunice Police were called to a disturbance in the 1000 block of West Park Avenue at nearly midnight Sunday. There was also a report of a knife involved in the disturbance. Eunice Police Lt. Ryan Young said an officer arrived and there was no active disturbance.
