5 properties are on Eunice city agenda

The owners of five properties in Eunice placed on Tuesday’s Board of Aldermen meeting may end up being forced to clean up or find their properties demolished. The properties were placed on the agenda at a meeting Thursday in the mayor’s meeting room The city meeting is scheduled at 6:30 p.m.

MLK events planned in Eunice

Eunice native Michael Victorian is scheduled as the keynote speaker at the Dr. MLK City-Wide Celebration 2018 set at 3 p.m. Jan. 14 at the New Zion Baptist Church. The weekend events begin with a 9 a.m. prayer breakfast at the New Zion Baptist Church gymnasium. The theme is “Build Me a Son.

Council may oppose disposal well at Beggs

After at least three meetings in which residents have voiced opposition to a salt water disposal well at Beggs, the St. Landry Parish Council will consider a resolution opposing it. A resolution to oppose the 5.5 acre site to be developed by Eagle Oil is to be presented at the Council’s Jan.

Eunice hospital district appointments face new headwinds

Action on three appointments to Eunice’s St. Landry Hospital District 1 Board were delayed for a third time. The latest delay came at the St. Landry Parish Council’s Administrative-Finance Committee on Wednesday. Two applicants were reported for three seats.

R. L. Baldridge, age 96, of St. Landry

R. L. Baldridge ST. LANDRY - Funeral services for R. L. Baldridge of St. Landry will be held at the First Baptist Church of St. Landry at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 5, 2018 with Bro. Joe Jenkins officiating.  A private burial will follow at the Griffin Hills Cemetery.

VP Rotary Club braves the freezing weather for its first meeting of the new year

While braving the below 30 degree weather Tuesday, the Ville Platte Rotary Club returned to Main Street Pizza for an abbreviated meeting to begin the new year. During the meeting, President Wayne Vidrine again updated the club on things that are happening.

Area rice, soybean producers gather here

Street overlay project talked by council committee

CROWLEY - Earlier this week the Crowley City Council committee meeting started with the exciting news of a citywide street program. However, the project is still in the planning stages and it will take approximately two to six months for the initial inventory to be completed.
