Pine Prairie council approves 2018 budget at recent meeting

Upon recommendation of Mayor Quint West, the Pine Prairie Village Council heard from Police Chief LC Deshotel about reimbursement for cameras. The issue arose after the police chief purchased three cameras costing nearly $1 thousand.

Elda Mae Guidry

BASILE~A wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Elda Mae Guidry will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Elda died on Sunday, December 31, 2017 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loved ones. She was 81.

The following are arrests by Eunice Police. Dec. 29 Rontreal Prejean, 18, 400 block of Madison St., Lafayette. First degree murder, three counts of attempted first degree murder. Dec. 30 Brandon Deshotel, 23, 300 block of Rue D Aimee, Ville Platte.

EUNICE —In the latest round of Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings released by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), Mercy Regional Medical Center and it’s Eunice campus, Acadian Medical Center, have been awarded a top 5-star rating.

Triple murderer to be set free

The emotions seemed as fresh and raw as they must have been in 1988 when Chad Young murdered his father, mother and brother, but this time Young was given a hearing in May and is to be set free in 2020.

Powerball ticket puts Eunice on the map

The morning of Oct. 26 opened with one of the great mysteries to unfold in Eunice. Who bought that $191.1 million Powerball ticket at Brownie’s convenience store at 150 W. Maple Ave.? The win was a record in Louisiana. The odds to win are one in 292.2 million.
