The following are arrests by Eunice Police. Dec. 6 Vindezz Thibodeaux, 17, 300 block of North Beulah Street, Eunice. Two counts of simple burglary. Juvenile, 16, Eunice. Two counts of simple burglary and theft of a firearm.

Bar to be raised for public schools

For the past three years St. Landry Parish public schools have earned a C in the state performance scores. Patrick Jenkins, superintendent, said if the district’s score remains the same in the future it is risking a letter grade of D or F.

City taking action on abandoned property

The city is about to take action on abandoned property in a process that eventually ends in its sale. The city has about 100 properties where the tax has not been paid, which eventually tags them with the “adjudicated” label.

Wounded suspect out of hospital, back in jail

Bryan Britnell, who was wounded in a hostage situation Nov 30 at Park Avenue and 9th Street was released from Lafayette General Hospital on Tuesday, according to Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot. Britnell, 33, of Eunice, was arrested by Lafayette Police on a warrant from Eunice Police, he said.

Blue star’s history comes to light

The blue star in Eunice lights up the sky once again. It’s nearly a year ago when the 15-foot-wide angle-iron star was placed on the 100-foot tall rice dryer building behind G&H Outdoor in Eunice. The star, which was thought to be missing 30 or 40 years ago from a rice dryer, was found.

A legislatively-created task force has been touring the state visiting as many locales as possible that hold historic Louisiana documents, from universities and clerks’ offices to courthouses and private foundations.
