The following are arrests by Eunice Police. Dec. 1 Nathaniel Thomas, 58, 600 block of Poinciana Street, Mamou. Principal to theft. Robert Gallow, 49, 5700 Palm Street, Chataignier. Theft. Dawn Scott, 44, 1800 block of Gum Street, Basile. Four counts of theft.

Melinda Mindy Boone

A funeral service will be held for Melinda "Mindy" Boone, 63, on Tuesday, December 5, at 10:00 AM at Quirk & Son Funeral Home. Deacon David Guillory will officiate. Burial will be held at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Mindy passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017.

ECCBC Christmas Concert tonight The Eunice Community Choir, Concert Band & Children’s Choir will present its Christmas Concert, “Dashing Through the Snow,” at 7 p.m. tonight and Friday night at the Liberty Center in Eunice.

Parish Council ends up with 2 budget choices

The St. Landry Parish Council introduced two budgets at a special meeting Wednesday. One budget was proposed by St. Landry Parish President Bill Fontenot. The other budget is identical except it cuts 15 percent from the Eunice and Opelousas marshals and courts.

The following are from December 2008 files of The Eunice News. Eunice Mayor Bob Morris said the city qualified for additional FEMA reimbursements for its response to Hurricane Gustav. The city’s debris removal cost was about $88,000 and the standard reimbursement would have been $66,000.

D.A. receives investigative file in DeJuan Guillory case

Evangeline Parish District Attorney Trent Brignac announced on Wednesday that his office has received the Louisiana State Police investigative file from the deputy involved shooting that ended the life of DeJuan Guillory last July.
