St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office arrests

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. Aug. 24 Desiree Nicole Fontenot, 22, 100 block of North Kavanaugh Street, Washington. Accessories after the fact; cruelty to juveniles. Joshua Keith Babineaux, 36, 300 block of Country Ridge Road, Opelousas.

State facing $1B ‘fiscal cliff’

Louisiana legislators have lots of work to do to identify funding sources for the state to survive the more than $1 billion fiscal cliff projected for its 2018-19 fiscal year, state Rep. The Experience Louisiana Festival will return to the LSUE campus on Oct. 28-29 with a focus on Louisiana agriculture. Dwight Jodon, one of the Eunice Rotary Club festival organizers, said the agriculture theme would be presented in the festival’s village formats.

U.S. Rep. Mike Johnson said during a town hall meeting in Eunice that the current House is the most productive in six administrations with 281 substantive bills passed, but only nine to 10 percent of those bills have passed the Senate.
