Louisiana added 2,600 private-sector jobs in December while the state’s unemployment rate declined from 6.2 percent to 6.1 percent over the month, according to seasonally-adjusted data from the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics, according to a news release from the Louisiana Workforce Commission.

Landa Richard, of the 1000 block of Sam Lake Road, Mamou, was recently charged with multiple counts of cruelty to animals after three miniature horses were found dead on her property from apparent neglect and starvation, according to a news release from the Louisiana Humane Society.

Eunice juveniles charged with sexting, pornography

Social media misuse landed two Eunice juveniles in police custody. On Thursday, a 13-year-old juvenle was charged with sexting and a 14-year-old was charged with pornography involving a juvenile.

St. Landry Bank robbed

A Eunice man was arrested Friday for the robbery of the St. Landry Bank at 2nd Street and Laurel Avenue. The robbery came a day after another man was convicted of armed robbery at the same bank on July 2, 2015. Friday’s robbery occurred about 1:30 p.m., Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
