A Eunice man was arrested Friday for the robbery of the St. Landry Bank at 2nd Street and Laurel Avenue.
The robbery came a day after another man was convicted of armed robbery at the same bank on July 2, 2015.
Friday’s robbery occurred about 1:30 p.m., Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
There are no injuries reported.
Randy Courville, 41, of Corrine Street, rode a bicycle to the bank and parked it outside the door, Fontenot said.
Courville was wearing a purple hooded LSU sweatshirt, surgical mask and gloves when he entered the bank, he said.
After entering the bank, Courville went to the first teller window and hoisted himself to where he could grab cash from a drawer, Fontenot said. The procedure was repeated and he left the bank.
No weapon was seen during the robbery nor found as of Friday afternoon, he said.
While Courville was in the bank, someone saw the hooded man enter the bank and removed the bicycle, Fontenot said.
Courville fled on foot and made his way to a vehicle, which later was found in Chataignier, he said.
Fontenot believes Courville showered in Chataignier and was driven back to Eunice. Fontenot did not provide an identity of the driver.
At about 3 p.m. the vehicle was on the way to Courville’s residence, he said. “There were too many police around so he kept going.”
However, police stopped the vehicle and found Courville tainted by red dye along with money, he said.
Police did not release the amount of money taken in the robbery.
Police were still investigating the relationship of the driver of the vehicle stopped in Eunice.
Courville was in custody at the Eunice City Jail and would eventually be transferred to the St. Landry Parish Jail, he said.
On Thursday, Benjamin Guillory, 23, of Lewis Street, Eunice was found guilty by a jury in 27th Judicial District Court Judge D. Jason Meche’s courtroom.
Guillory was captured by Eunice Police six minutes after the 9:11 a.m. armed robbery on July 2, 2015.
During the robbery a shot from a .25-caliber semi-automatic pistol was fired into the ceiling of the bank, police said. No injuries were reported.
Guillory’s case was prosecuted by the office of District Attorney Earl Taylor, with prosecution by Assistant District Attorney Alisa Gothreaux.
In a news release, Taylor stated a person convicted of armed robbery with use of a firearm shall be sentenced to serve not less than 15 years, but not more than 99 years at hard labor without the benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence.
Eunice Police released this surveillance video.
