Gov. Jeff Landry’s recent tax overhaul will erase Louisiana’s budget deficit that was expected to be just shy of $600 million and threatened funding for health care services and higher education.

A bee feeds on a camellia on the St. Landry Parish Courthouse grounds on Wednesday. The temperature was in the 70s and it was mostly sunny in a day that felt like spring. Around 5 p.m. showers started and temperatures returned to a winter-like upper 40s Thursday morning.

Rayne man arrested for pornography involving juveniles

Agents with Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Louisiana Bureau of Investigation arrested Jacob Charles Comeaux, 21, of Wiltz Street in Rayne on Dec. 17. Comeaux was arrested on seven counts of pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13.
