Crowley man arrested for pornography involving juveniles

Attorney General Liz Murrill’s Cyber Crime Unit arrested a Crowley man on June 26 for pornography Involving juveniles under the age of 13. Shannon Robert Primeaux, 42, of South Avenue D in Crowley, was arrested on 15 counts of pornography involving juveniles under the age of 13 (Felony).

Evangeline Parish sheriff says jail construction has started

Evangeline Parish Sheriff Charles Guillory announced the start date for the new parish jail was June 25. Initially, the start date was scheduled for a week prior, but the start was delayed because of tropical weather that moved across the area.

Arnaudville man convicted of sex crimes against juveniles

The St. Landry Parish District Attorney’s Office tried and convicted Jack Joseph Ray Sr., 73, of Arnaudville, of numerous sex crimes against two juveniles that occurred over the course of 2022. The trial concluded on Thursday after two days of testimony and evidence.

Peart plans a flashy finale on the Fourth

Kenneth Peart, former mayor and expert pyrotechnist, “It will be bigger and better!” he said of the 4th of July fireworks to begin at 9 p.m. Thursday at the Recreational Complex on Sittig Road.

Board approves annexations

In a rare occurrence, the Eunice Board of Aldermen approved two annexation requests at a special meeting on Wednesday. Both are for businesses on the south side of U.S. 190 on the west side of the city. One request is for a Whataburger on 1.38 acres and the other is for 1.

City’s budget approved

The Eunice Board of Aldermen approved the 2025 fiscal year budget at a special meeting on Wednesday. The Board also OK’d amending the 2024 fiscal year budget along with two annexations.
