Information sought about double homicide in December

St. Landry Crime Stoppers and Opelousas Police needs help in solving a double homicide in the city of Opelousas. On Dec. 1, 2022, just after 10 p.m., Opelousas Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Ina Clare Drive for a shooting complaint.

City to launch wastewater plant design work

Two utility upgrades were announced at the recent Board of Aldermen’s meeting. Karl Aucoin, city engineer, said the city is “undertaking a pretty large project” to reconstruct the existing wastewater plant. There are two plants. One is about 70 years old and the other is about 30 years old, he said.

Board to interview superintendent candidates

The St. Landry Parish School Board will interview five candidates for its superintendent job today and Friday. The five candidates are Milton Batiste III, Curt Green, Paul Nelson, Michael Robinson Jr. and Shirley Thibodeaux. Today’s meeting is to start at 4 p.m.

Eunice High grad is nominee for federal judge

Eunice High school graduate Darrel Papillion is a nominee for U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of Louisiana. Papillion is a 1986 graduate of Eunice High School. He also attended LSUE. Speaking French, Papillion was an early morning disc jockey at KEUN radio station in Eunice.

Eunice man convicted in 2019 killing

Demyron L Skinner, of Eunice, as found guilty of manslaughter in the 2019 shooting death of De’Omonte K. “D Gotti” Frank, 21, of Eunice. According to District Attorney Chad Pitre, Skinner was found guilty by a jury of 12 on April 14 and will be sentenced on April 27.
