Inmates add a felony charge after jail fight

Six inmates in the Eunice City Jail added a felony charge to their troubles after a jail fight on Aug. 17. Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said a person arrested last week was jumped in the jail. The suspected attackers were arrested on Aug.. 24 “Apparently he is not well liked” he said.

Bicyclist struck, killed in hit and run crash in St. Landry Parish

A crash involving a bicyclist on La. 182 near Whispering Oaks Drive in St. Landry Parish claimed the life of 22-year-old Davonte Chane Edwards of Breaux Bridge, according to a Louisiana State Police Troop I news release. Police were notified of the crash shortly after 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.
