Double homicide investigation continues

The investigation into a double homicide on June 16 is continuing. Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said a statement turned in by Travis Godfrey, the suspected shooter, “is going to be important in the case. He indicated he was being threatened.

Reber is VFW’s state commander

Don Reber is state commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars for the Department of Louisiana. He was sworn-in June 19 at the Louisiana State Convention held in Alexandria. Reber is the only VFW commander from Eunice to hold the title as a state commander.

Evangeline Parish deputies arrested for contraband

Two Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s deputies were arrested for bringing contraband into the parish jail. An investigation began in May about drugs and contraband being introduced into the parish jail, according to a news release on the office’s website.
