Howard Paul Terry, Sr. passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022 at the age of 77. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Golden Star Baptist Church with Reverend Matthew Alfred officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Mamou.

Sunset man dies in single-vehicle crash in St. Landry Parish

Shortly before 4 p.m. on May 28, troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop I were notified of a single-vehicle crash on La. 357 near Park Avenue in St. Landry Parish. The crash took the life of 67-year-old Reginal Clinton Miller of Sunset.

Tips sought on construction site theft near Church Point

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating a theft that occurred at a construction site near St. Raphael Drive, east of Church Point sometime between May 12 and 18. A truck, trailer and skid steer were stolen and several pieces of construction equipment were vandalized.

Acadia Parish Tourism Commission rebrands

The Crying Eagle Lodge near Basile was the perfect setting for the unveiling of the new brand for the Acadia Convention and Visitors Commission Tuesday morning. The Lodge is a little-known jewel of Acadia located just off La. 97 in the northwest corner of the parish.

Cleco donates $500,000 to support non-profits
