3,161 cast early votes in election on school taxes

There were 3,161 early votes cast in this Saturday’s election that is highlighted by three property taxes propositions for the St. Landry Parish School Board. Early voting ended on Saturday. The polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Saturday.

A 22-year-old Rayne man was killed March 17 at the Richard’s meat packaging facility after falling into a piece of equipment. The victim was identified as Todd Wheeler, of Rayne.

Man dies in Arnaudville mobile home fire

State Fire Marshal (SFM) deputies continue their investigation into a mobile home fire that claimed the life of an Arnaudville man. Just after 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Arnaudville firefighters responded to a report of a mobile home fire located in the 1000 block of Lena Drive.
