St. Francis Night Out set for March 26 St. Francis will hold Night Out dinner and auction from 6 to 11 p.m. on March 26 inside St. Francis School gym. St. Francis is located at 490 St. Joseph Ave., in Iota. The cost is $100 per couple, donations are accepted.

Acadia Parish issues burn ban

Acadia Parish Police Jury President Chance Henry has issued a burn ban for Acadia Parish due to extremely dry conditions within the parish and surrounding areas. The proclamation prohibits all outdoor burning activities throughout the parish.

Story Time returns at Eunice Library

On Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m. was a fun time for children at the Eunice Public Library. Children enjoyed a Story Time hour of listening to a guest reader read a story book, creating a craft and they enjoyed a snack.

Eunice man charged in fatal shooting

Justin Owens, of Eunice, is under arrest for the fatal shooting of Tjuan August on Feb. 15. According to a news release from Evangeline Parish Sheriff Charles Guillory, Owens was booked into the parish jail on a second-degree murder charge and his bail is set at $1 million.
