The Keep Eunice Beautiful pre-Mardi Gras cleanup occurred on Saturday. There were 48 volunteers including 14 youngsters who collected 297 bags of trash plus some bulk items dumped on city streets, according to Donna Baltakis, Keep Eunice Beautiful director. Mardi Gras Festival celebration begins Friday

The five-day Mardi Gras Festival in Eunice begins Friday with an evening of entertainment at Walnut Avenue and 2nd Street. At 6 p.m. a jam session is planned followed by the Savoy Family Band at 7 p.m. and the Pine Leaf Boys at 9:15 p.m.
