GOP leaders defend limited access to redistricting law firm

Senate President Page Cortez, R-Lafayette, clarified Thursday that a law firm hired to provide political redistricting advice to the Louisiana Legislature will eventually be paid with public funds, though no public money has been expended yet.

Street project nearly complete

In October, city to get once a week trash pickup

Richard LeBouef, executive director of the St. Landry Parish Solid Waste Commission, was at the Eunice Board of Aldermen meeting to talk about bulk waste removal.
But he ended up talking about the city going from twice a week trash collection to once a week pickup in October.

2 shot in Opelousas; near fatal shooting on Sunday

A 24-year-old male and a female juvenile were shot on Milo Lane in the Opelousas area at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The shooting occurred near a fatal shooting on Sunday at the KC Hall off La. 104 north of the Yambilee building.
