Tools stolen in rural burglary

Acadia Parish Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the burglary of a building that occurred in the 1300 block of St. Margaret Road, north of Church Point, on Jan. 4 or 5. Entry into the building was by force. Once inside, several pieces of diamond plate metal and various tools were stolen.

Sunset man killed in wreck

A Sunset man was killed in a single-vehicle auto wreck on Boxie Road in Sunset at about 5 p.m. Tuesday, according to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.

Omicron variant, other factors decimate blood supply

A national blood shortage is further stressing the nation’s fragile health care system. Vitalant, which services about 900 hospitals across 28 states, including 23 across 21 Louisiana parishes, is experiencing an historic, two-year low blood supply.

Edwards announces mortgage relief program

Louisiana to have $1.6B more to spend in upcoming session

Police Chief cites missing family, loss of God for violence

Eunice Police Randy Fontenot cited several factors for recent street crime, but focused on the lack of God and a breakdown in family as prime reason. Fontenot wrote the following on social media and read it as Tuesday’s Board of Alderman meeting.
