Mary Evelda Guillory

Mary Evelda Green Guillory was born April 24, 1934 in Plaquemine Point near Opelousas, Louisiana to Bessie Handy-Green and Joseph Colbert Green. She was the third child of eleven. At age 14, her mother died and she took on all responsibilities of being a mother to her nine brothers and sisters.

Ferrel Ray Reed

Farrel Reed passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at the age of 64. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 22, 2021 at Quirk & Son Funeral Home of Eunice with Reverend Kenneth Veillon officiating. Burial will follow in Reed Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m.

One of my favorite allegories is the one about the frog in the pot of water, who got used to the slowing rising temperature of a warming pot and ended up boiled to death. In some ways, I feel as if society has been on the menu for quite some time now.

Wintry freeze grips Eunice, Louisiana

Days of freezing temperatures gripped south Louisiana including on Mardi Gras. Despite the chill and icy conditions, the Eunice Mardi Gras Association held its 125th run, but the route was shortened for about 50 participants.
