The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheirff’s Office. Jan. 16 Allen L. Mitchell, 50, 100 block of Emar Street, Opelousas. Theft. Aaron Frank, 28, 300 block of Highway 3043, Opelousas. DWI 1st offense; speeding; modification of exhaust system; fenders and mud guards.

Eunice~ A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Dolores Ann deRosier Stroderd at 11:00 am on Friday, January 19, 2018 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Eunice. Rite of Committal will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery with Msgr. Romero Celebrant.

City of VP faces another lawsuit for police misconduct

A lawsuit was filed on January 8, 2017 against the City of Ville Platte for police conduct, which the plaintiff alleges violated their federally protected rights. The lawsuit was filed in the Western District Court of Louisiana by local attorney Tony Dupre on behalf of Latasha Pleasant.

VILLE PLATTE – Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte on Monday, January 8, 2018, for Elsie “Blondie” Fontenot, 90, who passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 in Breaux Bridge. Burial took place in the Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 20th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte for Fonda Fontenot Robertson who passed away November 21, 2017. Fonda was a resident of Gulf Breeze Florida. Fonda was the daughter of Wilda Helmer and Nathaniel L. Fontenot.
