Woman, 33, charged with having sex with male juvenile

Lannie Benot, 33, of the 2400 block of Little Teche Road, Port Barre, has been charged with felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a a juvenile, according to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz in a news release.
Benoit told detectives an underage male stayed at her home in Port Barre for over a week with her and her children, Guidroz said.
Benoit stated that after the third or fourth day, she and the minor began to hug and kiss each other, which led to having sexual intercourse with each other, Guidroz said.
The minor admitted that he and Benoit had sexual intercourse two to three times while he stayed at her home, Guidroz said.
Benoit was booked at the St. Landry Parish Jail. Bail was pending a court appearance.
“Parents need to ask the hard questions to their children to safeguard their well being. Studies show that when an adult preys on our youth and has inappropriate sexual relations with them, it has a lasting effect,” Guidroz said.
