Sheriff says woman, 33, charged again for having sex with minor

A 33-year-old woman has been arrested again for having sex with the same male minor, St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said in a news release.
Also arrested was the juvenile’s mother, Rachel Peeks, 36, of the 1000 block of Guidry Road, Breaux Bridge, for failure to report the commission of certain felonies.
Arrested again for having sex with a juvenile is Lainnie Benoit, 33, of the 2600 block of Little Teche Road, Port Barre. Benoit is charged with two counts of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.
Detectives were notified on Oct. 15 that Benoit had the minor in her home for more than week, he said.
Benoit had been arrested on Sept. 11 for having sexual intercourse with the underage juvenile and was ordered by the courts not to have contact with the male victim.  A witness reported that she was contacted by the juvenile’s mother asking for help in going get her son out of the house.   
Guidroz said the minor stated he was staying at Benoit’s home for a week and was having sexual intercourse with Benoit. 
The juvenile also stated he was in contact with his mother who knew what he was doing and was not attending school, Guidroz said.
Detectives interviewed Peeks, the juvenile’s mother. who admitted her son was at Benoit’s home for a week and was not attending school, he said.
Peeks notified a friend when her son would not come home, he said.
Benoit, who was interviewed at the sheriff’s office, denied having the juvenile at her home and stated when she returned home on Oct. 15, she found the juvenile sitting on her front porch crying, Guidroz said.
 Benoit stated she told the juvenile to go get his clothes and leave, he said.
 Detectives then interviewed Benoit’s underage children who stated their mother stayed in her bedroom all week and only came out to cook dinner, Guidroz said.
One of Benoit’s children stated they heard the juvenile in Benoit’s bedroom on Oct. 11, he said.
“Parents will be charged if evidence is uncovered that they are withholding information or allowing their children to commit crimes.  As for Benoit, my office will continue to arrest anyone who defies court orders and who continues to prey on our youth by having inappropriate sexual relations with them,” he said.
