Frank announces for Eunice police chief

Allarate “A.J.” Frank is announcing his candidacy for Eunice chief of police in the Nov. 6 election.
Frank, a native of Eunice, is the son of the late Clarence and Olla B. Landry Frank, according to his release. He has been married more than 49 years to Gloria J. Miles Frank and they have four children, Allarate Jr., Ridgeway, Deshawn, Taura and Domeic.
Frank has a high school equivalency diploma. He attended Houston Community College and Conroe Baptist Theological Institution majoring in criminal justice and theology.
In 1986, he attended the University of Houston Regional Police Academy and in 2007 the Acadian Law Enforcement Training Academy. Frank has about 1,400 hours in service police training.
Frank stated he was chief of police for the city of Iowa Colony, Texas, and supervised and operated a 34-member police force. He was assistant chief of police at Woodbranch, Texas, and supervisored and operated a 20-member police under the direction of the police chief.
Frank stated his career started with the Kendleton, Texas Police department in 1987. He started with the Iowa Colony department in 1989 and was appointed chief of police in 1994. She was started with the Woodbranch department in 1997 and was appointed assistant police chief in 1998. He started with the Eunice Police Department in 2006 and was a candidate for chief police in 2010. He returned to the Eunice department in 2010 and promoted to detective sergeant in 2012 and was in charge of narcotics investigations and criminal investigations for five years.
“In 2012, I was awarded officer of the year. I possess a Basic, Intermediate, Advance and a P.O.S.T. certificate as a peace officer. During those five years with a co-worker, I have seized approximately $100,000 of drug money from drug dealers, a dozen vehicles and have placed countless drug dealers in jail and some sent to the penitentiary and have solved homicides and bank robberies, etc.,” he stated.
Frank said he has have received police commendations, commendation by the former Sen. Buster Brown of Texas, assistant district attorneys and from citizens.
Frank said his certifications include mid-level management, first line supervision, senior command leadership, field training officer, hostage negotiations, domestic violence, gangs intelligence, homicides, regional counter drug training, advanced safety and management.
The qualifying period is July 18-20.
