‘Donnie’ Fontenot announces candidacy for Ward 4 alderman

James “Donnie” Fontenot is announcing his candidacy for Ward 4 alderman of Eunice in the Nov. 6 election.
His announcement includes the following.
“I was born and raised in Eunice, and a graduate of Eunice High School in 1983.
“I joined the U.S. Navy in July of 1987 and served as a sonar technician surface operator, electronic technician, and supervisor serving on both U.S. coasts and Hawaii. Having served on three ships, completed Sonar ASW Specialist training, successfully completed two tours of training sailors in operations and tactics, and receiving six Navy Achievement Medals.
“After serving 20 years in the service, I returned to Eunice with my family in 2007. I am married to the former Laura Baker of Escondido, California. She is a registered nurse at Acadian Medical Center in Eunice. My son, James, is a graduate of Eunice High School, and his brother, Daniel, completed studies at Eunice High School in his special needs class.
“While retired in Eunice, I attended college at LSUE in 2010. I graduated with an associate of applied science in computer information Technology, and currently continue my education with Northwestern State University in Natchitoches. I am the owner of Eunice Computer Solutions, LLC, in Eunice.
“I am involved with the Eunice Economic Development Council. I regularly attend St. Landry Economic Development meetings as a means of understanding the local economy. I have attended a LIDEA (Louisiana Industry Economic Academy) training session.”
