The voting public will have a chance to hear the views of candidates for municipal offices when the Acadia Parish Chamber of Commerce sponsors a Candidates’ Forum tonight at the Grand Opera House.
The forum, featuring candidates for mayor, chief of police, city council, and Acadia Parish Police Jury and School Board, will begin at 6 p.m. The public is invited to attend. Admission is free.
Mayoral and police chief candidates will be given two minutes to make opening statements, followed by two questions each with two-minute responses and a two-minute closing statement.
Candidates for Acadia Parish Police Jury and School Board and Crowley City Council who are seeking a contested seat will be allowed two minutes to address the audience.
For mayoral and chief of police candidates, numbers will be drawn to determine the order in which opening remarks will be given and questions will be selected at random.
Council, police jury, and school board candidates will be recognized in order of division and ward, and then in alphabetical order. All candidates will be required to strictly adhere to the specified time limits.
