Four people have been arrested in connection with a shooting in Lawtell, according to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz in a news release.
On Oct. 18, deputies were called to 599 Durosseau Road where two victims had sustained gunshot wounds.
Witnesses reported seeing the suspects flee the scene in a white Chevrolet Avalanche. While deputies were responding to the shooting they located the suspect vehicle and detained the suspects.
Guidroz stated, the “... investigation revealed that Daliyah West, Ronald Guillory, Courtney Thomas, and Ro’mond C. Bruno drove to the home of Devonta Major so that Ronald Guillory could fight with him. Devonta Major is the ex-boyfriend of Daliyah West. Two of the suspects, Ronald Guillory and Ro’Mond Bruno exited the vehicle and each brandished a pistol.
“Multiple shots were fired in the direction of Major and another bystander striking them. Guillory and Bruno then re-entered the vehicle and began to drive away. Courtney Thomas who was also inside the vehicle took one of the guns and fired several shots while they were fleeing. When the suspects noticed deputies pursing them, Bruno exited the vehicle evading capture. Bruno was later located and brought into the sheriff’s office by his mother,” he stated.
Investigators later discovered that there was a woman and her 2-year-old child standing outside the home when the shooting began but was pushed to safety by the bystander prior to him being shot, Guidroz stated.
The bystander was shot in the abdomen area while Major sustained a gunshot to the neck. Both are listed in stable condition in an area hospital.
