Eunice Police have charged a business owner with theft in connection with a truck repair, according to Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot.
On Feb. 20, Ronnie Lee Fontenot, 31, 1700 block of Providence Highway, Rayne, was arrested for theft, value $5,000 to $24,999.
The police chief said Ronnie Fontenot is the owner of Fontenot’s Diesel Performance, 1107 W. Laurel Ave.
A customer brought a truck in for repair and was asked for payment up front to order parts, the police chief said.
But a series of credit card charges proved a problem, the police chief said.
The customer was told the charges were in error and was offered an $8,000 credit on his card to cover $7,985 in charges, the police chief said.
The credit never went through and the customer was told he would get a check for reimbursement, which never happened, the police chief said.
The police chief said the public should be careful when asked by mechanic to pay for parts or supplies before work is done.
