A 17-year-old male was shot in the stomach at about about 1 p.m. Thursday, but Eunice Police have more questions than answers after the initial investigation, Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
“The shooting incident happened at 1:02 p.m. on Aug. 6 when the police department received and responded to a call from the Acadian Medical Center in reference to a 17-year-old male juvenile with a gunshot wound to the abdomen and injury to a finger,” he said.
“Officers investigated and were directed to a residence on Richard Street where they found evidence that the juvenile was there, and bled there.
“However, we are unable to determine if the crime scene actually occurred there. We are getting different mixed stories from the juvenile and his family.
“At one point in the investigation, we thought that the shooting may have been accidental, that he shot himself, but even that is unclear,” he said.
Fontenot said police are not getting any cooperation in the investigation.
“This is not the first time officers have responded to the hospital with this same victim of a gunshot wound,” he said.
