Scenes from the 36th annual World Championship Crawfish Etouffee Cook-Off

The 36th annual World Championship Crawfish Etouffee Cook-off was held Sunday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Northwest Community Center pavilion and grounds.
Approximately 30 cooking booths entered and participated in the event, with chefs cooking their secret crawfish etouffee recipes. Other foods, including boiled crawfish were sold on site.
Many people danced to live bands that included Steve Riley and The Mamou Playboys, Jason Frey & Lagniappe and Burke Riley’s Cajun Quintet.
Winners were named in the cooking and professional showmanship categories.

Louisiana Right to Life tour

Louisiana Right to Life brought its tour to Eunice on Thursday asking that the public sign a petition and contact legislators to keep exceptions for rape and incest from becoming legal reasons for abortions.
In front of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church at noon, about 60 people, including seniors from Saint Edmund High School, gathered for the 50-stop tour that began in Galliano and ends in Springhill.
The tour in a recreation vehicle started about four weeks ago and is to continue through May 10.

Eunice High, "Where The Magic Begins", Renaissance Pep Rally

Eunice High School held its annual Renaissance Academic Pep Rally Friday morning with a program themed, “Disney Characters and Movies.”
The pep rally gives students an opportunity and privilege of earning and winning T-shirts, prizes, electronics, awards, and much more, for their hard work earned in the classroom.
Many sponsors and businesses donate to the event every year.
The emcees for the morning program included Jade Fontenot as Alice in Wonderland, Alicia Guillory Bielstein as the Queen of Hearts and Jacques Joubert as the Mad Hatter.
