First day of school at St. Edmund

St. Edmund Catholic School started its first day of school Monday. Students are required to wear mask indoors. During outdoor activities, and events students are not required to wear a mask. Many students, elementary, junior high and high school age, arrived at school Monday early for a full day of classes. (Photos by Myra Miller)

Scenes from Big Boy traveling through Eunice

Train buffs and the curious gathered along the tracks in Eunice as Big Boy No. 4014, the famed Union Pacific steam locomotive built in the 1940s to conquer mountains while carrying equipment in support of World War II, passed through Eunice on Thursday. The scenes are near the La. 13 crossing. Big Boy is on a 10-state tour and was to make eight whistle-stops in southern Louisiana and will be on public display Saturday at the Audubon Riverview Park in New Orleans. (Photos by Harlan Kirgan)
