A man who has found himself a target of shootings has been charged with five counts of attempted second-degree murder in a May 3 shooting.
Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said Dustin “Goldmouth” Johnson, 33, of East Ardoin Street, Eunice, as arrested Thursday.
Johnson is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
At about 2 p.m. May 3 Johnson shot a house on Townhome Drive, Fontenot said. There was a woman with five children in a yard in the area of the shooting, he said.
“We found evidence at the residence of the shooting,” he said.
More importantly, Fontenot said, “Some people are finally getting fed up with all this stuff. We got good cooperation from the public on this and they came forward and were able to identify the shooter.”
A .40-caliber pistol was used in the shooting, he said.
Johnson fire toward the Townhome residence from the Crestview Apartments, he said.
“He is out on bond from charges from last year. We’ve notified the DA this morning to see if there is any way to revoke the bond or continue him in custody until his trial,” Fontenot said.
“He has been named as a suspect often and he is well-known in the community as being a suspect in a lot the shootings that have been going on in town. And, if not a suspect, he has been known to be a target of some of the shooting,” Fontenot said.
Johnson’s bail was set at $250,000 with the condition of home incarceration and ankle monitoring, he said.
“He is being held pending a bond revocation hearing on his pending charge set for next Thursday. Bond revocation for previous pending charges is requested by me and District Attorney Charles Cravin,” he said.
