Eunice Police investigated two shootings that occurred inside vehicles and ruled both accidental.
In the first incident, Police received a call from McDonald’s at 10:44 p.m. Sunday about a subject shooting himself in the foot, Chief Randy Fontenot said.
The male had left the drive-through at McDonald’s when a .40-caliber pistol inside the waistband of his pants discharged striking his foot, he said.
“He drove himself to the Eunice hospital,” Fontenot said.
The second shooting was reported at 12:30 a.m. Monday at a residence in the 1700 block of West Peach.
Four people — two males and two females — picked up food and had parked a the residence, he said.
“It appears that all subjects were playing some sort of dice game,” he said.
“One of the subjects sitting in the backseat took out a gun and began messing with it. It accidentally went off, striking the front seat passenger in the left arm, went into the subject’s side, and upper torso, but missed all vital organs,” he said.
Fontenot said it appeared there were no drugs or alcohol involved in the shooting.
The wounded person was transferred to a Lafayette hospital.
“The shooting was ruled accidental, charges are pending however. All subjects were from Lake Charles,” he said.
