Five teens are accused of stealing a Ford F-150 pickup from a residence in the 100 block of Tanglewood and, after putting about 400 miles on it, driving it into a ditch in the 1400 block of Williams on Monday.
Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said all were charged with resisting an officer and one juvenile was charged with illegal possession of a handgun.
The vehicle theft was reported at 4:55 a.m. Monday and it was found at 12:15 p.m.
The pickup had last been seen at 4 p.m. Sunday.
The truck had been driven about 400 miles and police think it was taken to Ville Platte, he said.
Three of the juveniles who have been arrested are from Ville Platte, he said.
The truck was damaged in the rear and the cabin was filthy and smelled of marijuana, he said.
Four of the suspects were found in a shed in the 300 block of May. Another suspect was found under a tarp on Verbena Street.
The juveniles, ages 14, 15 and 13, were released to the custody of their parents.
A 17-year-old, Jarinksy Rantez Jones, of the 300 block of Corn Street, Eunice, was charged and released on $1,502 bail, he said.
