Easter gunplay ends with wounded juvenile

A juvenile was wounded below his left knee after a teen twirled a .22-caliber pistol with his index finger on the porch of a residence in the 200 block of North 8th Street on Easter, according to a Eunice Police report.
Tristen Romero, 17, 200 block of North 8th Street, Eunice. was arrested on April 1 for negligent injuring and illegal carrying of a weapon.
The wounded juvenile called his mother and sister after the shooting. His sister took him to Acadian Medical Center.
The officer stated there was a small hole below the juvenile’s knee. The officer also stated the juvenile’s mother said he would need surgery to remove the bullet.
The juvenile told the officer that after he was shot Romero tried to make a deal and repeatedly attempted to hand the gun to him, the report stated. The deal was the juvenile would shoot Romero in the leg, the report stated.
The young Romero said the firearm discharged accidentally. He told the officer he bought the weapon off the street for $60.
