A 22-year-old Eunice man was arrested after he jumped into the back seat of a Eunice Police car and demanded to be taken to the president, Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
Scotty Aymond Jr., of the 400 block of South 2nd Street, Eunice, ended up being arrested for disturbing the peace after the incident that started at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Fontenot said more charges against Aymond are pending.
Police were called about a man wandering around the bushes at the Eunice Post Office, Fontenot said.
An officer arrived and saw Aymond with his arms under his shirt, which was bulked up at the top, he said.
The officer got out of his vehicle and as he approached, Aymond hopped into the back seat of the police car, Fontenot said.
The officer said Aymond demanded, “Take me to the president,” Fontenot said.
Aymond was removed from the police car and was convinced to remove his hands from under his shirt, Fontenot said. When his hands were clear, an American flag dropped to the ground, he said.
“He said he took it,” Fontenot said of the man’s explanation for the flag, but didn’t say from where.
Aymond said he had to take the flag to the president, Fontenot said.
“He was under the influence. He said he took some pills named ‘flag,’” Fontenot said.
