A 34-year-old Eunice man is charged with three counts of second-degree rape and sexual battery, and transmitting an STD to his victims, according to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.
Travis Robinson, of the 300 block of Chenault Road, Eunice, has been booked into the parish jail, Guidroz stated in a news release.
Bail was set at $250,000.
Detectives with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Juvenile Detective Section begin investigating on April 30 when a 12-year-old girl said Robinson had sexual intercourse with her, Guidroz stated. The girl stated Robinson pulled down her legging pants and then had sex with her, he said.
A pediatrician discovered the girl tested positive for a sexual transmitted disease, Guidroz said.
On May 1, detectives interviewed Robinson and he denied touching the juvenile, Guidroz said. A DNA search was executive on Robinson.
On May 11 Robinson’s test results showed he was positive for the same STD as the victim.
A 14-year-old girl came forth on May 15 and reported Robinson touched her in her private area and had sex with her during the first week of January, Guidroz said.
The 14-year-old was taken to the St. Landry Parish Heath Unit and tested positive for a sexual transmitted disease. The female was diagnosed with the same strand of STD that was found in Robinson.
”Coming forward about a rape is a hard thing to do as an adult let alone a juvenile. Parents need to have an open line of communication with their kids and always be mindful of whose with their kids and where there are. There are people out there waiting to prey on our children,” Guidroz said.
