Eunice Police warn of scam calls

There have been some complaints about scamming phone calls between of 3 and 4 a.m. targeting senior citizens and elderly citizens in Eunice, according to Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot.
The calls that these residents are receiving is someone stating to be their grandchild saying that they are in jail and asking them to send money to them so they will not get locked away in prison, Fontenot stated in a news release.
“Some have fallen prey to this scam. Calls are being made at this time to try and distract you from your sleep,” he stated.
Fontenot encourages those receiving the call to take down the phone number where the person can be reached.
Fontenot would like all citizens to be cautious of the phone calls you receive; if you are not certain have someone look into it for you before sending money anywhere.
