Information sought in shooting death of 16-year-old male

A shooting in the 200 block of Gulino Street in Opelousas at about 1:30 a.m. today claimed the life of a 16-year-old male, according to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.
Opelousas Police contacted the sheriff’s office and reported the teenage was at the Opelousas General Hospital north campus with a gunshot wound to the back.
The youth later died from the injury.
The investigation is ongoing and no other information is being released at this time, the news release stated.
