Juvenile shooting suspect surrenders

A 17-year-old suspect to a shooting that occurred outside Golden Seafood on Feb. 23 surrendered to Eunice Police on Monday, Police chief Randy Fontenot said.
The teen was booked on charges of aggravated battery with a firearm and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile, Fontenot reported.
He was released to the custody of his father, he said.
The victim was Keshawn Guillory, 20, of South Beulah Street, Eunice.
“Had this incident occurred last year, before the state’s laws changed, the suspect could have been charged as an adult and his identity made known,” Fontenot stated in an earlier news release.
The shooting occurred about 4 p.m. Feb. 25 after two males argued inside the Golden Seafood store on East Maple. The confrontation moved outside where the shooting occurred on the parking lot. Before the shooting the victim in the stomach he was slapped with the gun, Fontenot stated.
