A 19-year-old man has been arrested on two counts of sexual battery of a juvenile.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz said Lawrence Kenneth Richard, 100 block of Louise Street, Grand Coteau, was arrested on July 10.
Detectives received information from the mother of the juvenile that her daughter had been sexually assaulted by Richard, Guidroz said.
The mother said her stepfather caught Richard in the act, he said.
“The juvenile stated she was assaulted by Lawrence on two other separate occasions. The juvenile was brought to a local hospital for an examination. After key evidence and statements were obtained, Richard was questioned then arrested and booked at the parish jail. Richard refused to speak to detectives without an attorney present,” Guidroz said.
“This is the second juvenile case in two weeks where an adult is either having sexual conversations with a juvenile or committing sexual acts on juveniles. Again we urge parents to talk to their kids about any and all inappropriate actions being done to them and report it immediately to authorities,” he said.
