Shortly after 4 pm Wednesday, deputies responded to the Faulk Road and Benton Road area regarding a farming accident.
According to the initial investigation, farmers where working in the rice bins when an individual working fell into the bin which contained rice. The individual was consumed by the rice as farmers and first responders worked diligently to free the individual from the bin.
When the victim identified as Wayne Richard, 45 of Morse was located those present tried to render aid.
Unfortunately, Richard did not survive and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Acadia Parish Coroners Office.
“This tragic incident has been ruled accidental and the investigation is closed. I would like to personally thank the many farmers and first responders who fought to save Mr. Richard,” stated Sheriff KP Gibson.
