Missed court date ends in multiple drug charges

Two Eunice residents face multiple drug and other charges after an attempt was made to serve a warrant at their residence on Thursday, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
A deputy with the City Marshal was attempting to a serve a warrant in the 800 block of Tate Street on Ian Paul Langley, 25, at 11:33 a.m., he said.
The warrant was for failure to appear for a misdemeanor theft charge that stemmed from a Sept. 14 incident, he said.
“When he arrived at the residence he smelled the strong odor of what he believed to be marijuana,” Fontenot said of the deputy.
The deputy contacted Eunice Police for assistance in investigating.
The occupants refused a search so a search warrant was obtained, he said.
“All the drugs were individual packages like they would be for sale or distribution,” he said.
Officers also discovered a minor in the residence, he said.
Arrested were Nicole Renee Darbonne, 45, and Daniel Todd Richard, 42.
Darbonne was charged with possession of Scheduled IV (Tramadol), illegal carrying weapons in presence of controlled dangerous substance, possession of legend drug (Meloxicam), improper supervision of minor, possession of legend drug (Cyclobenzaprine), possession of Schedule II drug (Oxycodone), violation of Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substance in a drug-free zone, possession with intent to distribute Schedule II drug (methamphetamine), possession with intent to distribute (marijuana), possession of Schedule IV (Xanex, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal use of controlled dangerous substance in presence of a minor under 17.
Richard was charged with possession of Schedule II drug (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with in intent to distribute (marijuana), illegal use of controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor under 17, possession of Schedule II drug (Oxycodone), violation of drug in drug-free zone, possession of Schedule IV drug (Xanex), possession of Scheduled IV drug (Alprazolam), possession of legend drug (Cyclobenzaprine), illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of legend drug (Meloxicam) and possession of body armor.
