A Eunice man who had been drinking most of the day ended up in front of an apartment in the 800 block of South Beulah unleashing a fusillade of bullets from a pistol into the air, Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
The action at about noon Tuesday landed Kwan T. Fredrick, 39, under arrest and in jail, Fontenot said.
Fredrick was charged with assault by drive by and illegal carrying of weapons, the chief said.
Fredrick was also booked on warrant for domestic abuse battery stemming from an incident on Sunday.
Fredrick has addresses at residences in the 800 block of South Beulah and on Juanita Street, Fontenot said.
On Tuesday, witnesses said Fredrick had been drinking all day and walking back and forth in front of an apartment, Fontenot said.
The apartment was the same one where Fredrick is accused of pinning a women down on a bed and then throwing a full can of beer at her head on Sunday, Fontenot said.
Having returned to pace in front of the apartment on Tuesday, Fredrick left only to return and “just started shooting up in the air multiple times,” Fontenot said.
Fredrick fired from a vehicle in which he was a passenger and .40-caliber casings were found at the scene, Fontenot said.
Police found Fredrick standing in front of the apartment complex office with the weapon concealed, Fontenot said.
